Acne is a common skin disease. About 80% of all people go through this distressing condition. People of all ages and races get acne. Adolescents are more likely to get acne. However, it is usually common in teenagers and young adults during puberty. Both men and women can get acne.
Women in their early 20s usually tend to have it on the lower part of the face and on the neck, which may be associated with hormonal changes. However, it can be worse in men because they have more skin oils.
Heredity also plays an important role. If your mother and father had acne, you may also get acne. Almost 85 per cent of people between the ages of 12 and 26 get acne. In many cases, acne goes away by the age of 30-32 years. Nevertheless, some people in their forties and fifties may get acne.
